In order to make it as safe as possible for you to register, we make use of standard security methods. The most important aspect of these methods is that is has been made impossible to "monitor" your registration and that it is made sure that your registration is done on the registration computer. The so-called https protocol is the instrument for this. Certificates are used to check if the computer is really the application computer. The certificate of the application computer is checked in the browser by means of local certificates. The following paragraph explains how to install these certificates.
Installation of certificates
If a security prompt appears when accessing the registration form, there are two possible situations:
- A display appears with two yellow triangles. This means that you do not have the Tilburg University certificate. You must carry out steps 1 and 2 below.
- A display appears with one yellow triangle. This means that the Tilburg University certificate has expired. You must carry out step 2 below.
The instructions below are for Internet Explorer but are similar across browsers
Step 1: Install the SURFnet-PCA-Root-CA Certificate
- Click on the following link: download SURFnet-PCA-Root-CA Certificate.
- Select the option "Open this file from its current location" and click OK.
- Choose "Install Certificate", the wizard appears.
- Choose next, next and finish.
- Say yes to the question "Do you want to ADD following certificate to the Root Store?"
- Click OK twice.
Step 2: Install the UvT-CA Certificate.
- Click on the following link: download UvT-CA Certificate.
- Ignore any warning that may pop up and select "Open."
- Choose "Install Certificate." The wizard appears.
- Choose next, next and finish.
- Click OK twice.
You may view your certificates in Internet Explorer by choosing
- Tools --> Internet Options --> tab Content --> Certificates
On the tab "Intermediate Certification Authorities" you will find the UvT-CA Certificate.
On the tab Trusted Root Certification Authorities you will see the Organizational CA and the SURFnet-PCA-Root-CA Certificate
